Date format
#31
You can change my vote to 'Dec-11-2016' if you wish, that and '11-Dec-2016' work for me.
When push comes to shove on this one, I'll go with the flow.

Hm! Dec-11-2016 is confusing for me. I don't see any logic to put the moth before the day but.. Anyway! It's not catastrophic

There is going to be one way that someone doesnt like it regardless of which is decided. The whole point was to make it readable, and because its Dec and not 12, is readable to everyone. Plus it can be changed per user as they wish.

I see logic in it. If you look at rows of dates (a forum for example) reading from left to right, searching for latest thread replies, you only have to scan the first few characters to find whether its somewhat new (Dec) or old (Sept). And if its old, just move on to the next line, whereas if its the current month, you keep reading onto the date to see if is truly recent. The opposite of something like 11-Dec-2016 might catch the eye a month later on 11-Jan-2017 thinking its recent due to the 11 being the first characters to read in which is the same day as current date. But yet is a month old. Why would it have to go in order of DD-MM-YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD anyways?

Only programmers would spend four pages talking about date formats.

I for one would like to table the date format issue for a bit, until we can figure out what color he bike shed should be.

While the previous date format has already been changed to a less ambiguous way, the poll shows a draw in the current leaders:
  • 3 votes for Dec-11-2016 and 1 for Dec 11 2016
  • 3 votes for 11-Dec-2016 and 1 for 11 Dec 2016

Interestingly enough, none of those options are currently available for users to choose from when setting their own default.

Maybe we just add them to the list and be done with it?
