You give people and your apps permission to read or write to parts of your Solid POD. So whenever you’re opening up a new app, you don’t have to fill out your details ever again: they are read from your POD with your permission.

How is this not going to be horribly abused, like phone permissions?

I can't answer that question with my limited knowledge at this point, but thought it an interesting concept, and also thought the guy earned a listen at the least.
Perhaps it will not be viable if these types of questions cannot be properly addressed, but everything new has rocks if not boulders in it's path but they can usually be removed.
