No new computer for Christmas?

If you are like me, and Santa didn't bring you a new computer, here is an almost next best thing from the folks at Raspberry Pi.

PIXEL

I have an old Gateway Laptop running Windows XP, that seems a perfect candidate to try this out  Big Grin

Happy Holidays everyone!
If it ain't broke, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
OS: Windows 10, openSuse 42.3, freeBSD 11, Raspian "Stretch"

Quote:Put simply, it’s the GNU/Linux we would want to use.

Isn't that what every Linux distro is, just from a different person's perspective?

It would seem so, but (and dare I say it) as each new distro comes out, it's larger than the last and requires more memory as well as dropping older hardware to make room for the newer stuff. Not much of a problem on newer computers, but on older units (my XP laptop for example) they just don't have the minimum requirements.  I think that it's these 'older' machines they are targeting.

Ubuntu-minimal with OpenBox and Tint2 should run on any older machine

Tradition is peer pressure from dead people

What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual. Two languages? Bilingual. One language? American.

Santa couldn't even give me a decent wi-fi connection at my Mom's house this year.

I didn't get any computer 'stuff' either (but I bought some myself (on it's way from Hong Kong))

But my Nephew from New York (software engineer) was there and I got to talk to him the entire day
(and ignore the twenty or so others who were there).
So I was happy
