[Solved] "Sponsored by python-forum.io"
#11
I may have found it.
It was embedded in a post I created from Bar entitled Interesting Databases

I copied a post from Ichabod801 which contained a link to (of all things) the consumer safety database of US Gov.
It has an embedded link marked 'Reports of harm reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission'
which shows up only if you examine the source!

As it turns out, I can't edit this thread without all links except for the google one being deleted.
Perhaps this is the culprit.
I may have to completely replace the entire post unless someone more knowledgeable with BBcode can fix it.

Do you have "Live HTTP Headers" extension for Chrome micseydel?

So "sponsored by [site I'm browsing to]" is injected in a iframe.
You can see something like this if you inspect source of the pop up.
Output:
iframe src="https://extsgo.com/view/teasers?id=191753" style="height: 873px; width: 100%;"></iframe
If you look in Chrome store so is now Live HTTP Headers removed.

snippsat you figured it out. I just disabled a bunch of my extensions, with the plan to basically binary-search my way into finding if an extension was responsible and that was one of the ones I disabled. What jerks.

It's specific to a particular browser extension, if you don't have it, don't worry about it.
