Touchscreen and ADS1x15 Interference
#1
Hello,

I noticed that if I attach a touch screen pointing device via USB and HDMI, the ADS1x15 ADC I am using gets overridden as if it is not connected at all. If I connect a regular DVI or VGA monitor into the Pi with a VGA – HDMI or DVI – HDMI converter the ADC seems to function as it should. I tried splicing the USB cable to remove any power draw from that to the touch screen and I also cut the HDMI 5V power supply from the HDMI cable going to the touch screen. The touch screen still functions as it should with all of these modifications made but the ADS1x15 ADC still does not function. This ADC communicates using I2C protocol.

Have you ever heard of such a thing or ran into any similar problems?

Is there a video setting on the Pi itself to send out strictly video, is the Pi trying to send out power to the touch screen via HDMI for some reason?

Thank you

PS: The touch device I am using is the AR1100 Touch Controller from Adafruit and to clarify the ADC is the ADS1115 ADC also from Adafruit.
