Update removing formatting
#1
I added a post to the following link https://python-forum.io/Thread-Collectio...49#pid9549
there are two embedded lists, with hyperlinks to each entry.
I tried to update the post, and the first list got squished together, and all links removed.

I may have used illegal markdown.
I placed [list] followed by Research and then another [list]
followed by individual lines containing

GIS people - Commercial company, but good study
Tutorial: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing
Remote sensing wikipedia
NOAA - What is remote sensing?
ESA eduspace What is remote sensing?
NASA Earth Observatory
Digital Globe - Commercial company, but good study
GIS People Austrailia - What can you do with GIS?
Center for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP)
PhysicalGeography.net - Introduction to Remote Sensing ebook
GIS Geography - 100 Earth Shattering Remote Sensing Applications & Uses

each with an html link (same as the bottom group, which seems ok)
I posted and all was ok
I then did an edit, changing spelling (outside of the list area) and updated.
That's when the top list got messed up

Don't know how to show markup tag without it taking effect (I put it in double quotes here)
edit: Kebap: fixed for you

your quote was the list that got trashed

Well, I managed to go in and fix the post.
There may have been some bad characters that got through from my original document (which was open office writer).
I thought I removed all the formatting, but saw some question marks in the raw data that didn't belong with the text

The GIS list you provided is great @Larz60+. But I would like to point out that GIS means geographic information system.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic...ion_system
Although interesting enough there is also the other definition of GIS which I didn't know about.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_information_system

I knew that, don't know why I made the error - have to blame it on old age

I don't know what's happening here I went to change the item j.crater mentioned and the whole post's url links got messed up again
if list a valid tag?

Some help, you most close your url tag
Eg:
GIS people - Commercial company, but good study
Tutorial: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing

Eg of list:
  1. GIS people - Commercial company, but good study
  2. Tutorial: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing
Remember there is a View Source(ctrl+shift+s) button,
to see how i format this or to look at your own mess Wink

View Source.
Eg:
[url=http://www.gispeople.com.au/remote-sensing/]GIS people - Commercial company, but good study[/url]
[url=http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/node/9309]Tutorial: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing[/url]

Eg of list:
[list=1]
[*][url=http://www.gispeople.com.au/remote-sensing/]GIS people - Commercial company, but good study[/url]
[*][url=http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/node/9309]Tutorial: Fundamentals of Remote Sensing[/url]
[/list]

If you try to edit a post and click view source (try it a few times),  without any editing, the post changes
That's as simple as I can state it.
The post I made had links, their click ability was removed (although the url was still present)

snippsat - of course that is the problem. Operator error

I had to remove the list tags - Is list a valid markdown tag?

We use BBCode and not Markdown.

I have fixed list, have to some manual edit(list get new number when you use enter).
So just paste in star(*) in brackets([]) before url tag.

the view source button is a toggle button. It will toggle from showing the formatted text from bbcode to showing the tags of the bbcode themselves and back again.
