Welcome back link + Avatar image change.
#1
While thinking of retrying out this forum again (after some false start some time ago), I'm running into some questions.

When I click on the name-link at the "Welcome back, <username>. You last ..." I get the text/message "You do not have permission to access this page. This could be because of ..." ???.

1) Is that what I normally should see when using that link ?

Despite the above notice, which made me think I could not do any account editing. I could access my User Control Panel (through User CP link).
At which point I run into trouble while trying to change my current avatar image.

I just keep getting this "The URL you entered for your avatar does not appear to be valid. Please ensure you enter a valid URL." error message. (which seems to be the default and only message ... so far)
I tried using Imgur as intermediate, which was a no-go. Also tried to link-up to my GitHub avatar image, no-go either (which in its normal format is bigger than 100x100, but the image checking did not even get that far according to the error message)

2) Is there some trick to this ? (Needles to say I can't remember how I did It the last time)

1) you were placed in a special user group after you posted a bunch of BBcode testing threads 2 years ago. I will move you back for now.

2) What is the URL you are entering? URL must be https, not http. That or your url is not really valid. The maximum dimensions for avatars are 100x100. Avatars can be a maximum of 25 KB. You can also just upload your avatar to this forum directly.

Aha, right. I kinda forgot that I used my initial first post (eaten by a server update/reset at that time) to explore this fora BBcodes.

1) "view profile" page available again.

2) I can now also directly upload a new avatar image. That upload option was not available before, figure that might also have been related to that flag setting (figure linking to online images might also have been effected by that (neither https or http worked on, in my view, pretty valid Url's))

Thanks.
