Here is the result of the tcpdump... thing. I only replaced a few alphanumeric strings with xxxx for privacy
Output:

My resolv.conf is a symlink
Output:
λ ls -dl /etc/resolv.conf lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35 juil. 6 06:35 /etc/resolv.conf -> /var/run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf
It's contents is very short but I don't think I can try anything else as it is automatically generated.
Output:
λ cat /etc/resolv.conf # Generated by NetworkManager search home nameserver 127.0.1.1

when /etc/resolv.conf is a symlink, you can make it point to any file you want and NetworkManager won't change it.

i see the problem you are running into. you are getting an old leftover IPv6 address from my DNS. it's a still running server that has a web server on it and it may have ipal.net in its configuration.

i found an IPv6 server for S3 in my region and pointed my AAAA record there. give the original links a try, now.

What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual. Two languages? Bilingual. One language? American.

Now it works great. So finally, my browser and my configuration are out of the picture...

they were all along. the difference is you have IPv6 and your browser was getting the IPv6 answer or preferring to use IPv6 if it got both. my DNS was the culprit. i had a bad address in the AAAA record for ipal.net. i could have just removed it and forced the use of IPv4. but instead, i got it to use the Amazon S3 dual-stack feature.
