I am currently running opensuse leap 15.
the python version I am using is (pyenv) 3.6.6 as 3.7.0 will not install. I use virtual environment (pyenv) for all development.
Any suggested solutions I have found to get pyenv 3.7.0 to load have failed. the 3.6.6 version doesn't even have tkinter installed, and so called solutions for that fail as well. I have tried many times without success.

I thought that if I waited long enough, the issues would be fixed, but have been more generous with time as I think necessary.

I have had similar problems with installing wxpython phoenix, again without success to date.

So, I have decided to abandon OpenSuse for above reasons. I want to install a distro which doesn't have any of these issues, and preferably not ubuntu.

Looking for suggestions for where above issues have been addressed and solved.
I suggest Arch
Do you have python 3.7.0 loaded with tkinter?
what about wxpython phoenix?
I would suggest that you go through the repositories for the distro candidates and see if they contain version 3.7. My distro, Slackware, is still on 3.6 which says that more than one distro has a problem.
I have it but I don't remember if it comes with Python. Tkinter I mean. I will look at it later.
