are there other ways in which programming has helped you in life other than the direct application for it in computers ?
It's helped me think more clearly, and break down large tasks into very small ones.

Programming has helped me take my mind of other things. Also, whenever I feel bored and have nothing to do, I just grab my mac and start writing some code
