I tried downloading Python version 3.7.8 (32 Bit web-based download) and I got an error message saying "0x80072efd - unspecified error" when attempting to install Python. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have Windows 8 installed and therefore cannot install the newer versions of Python.

It has to do something with svchost and networking. It's not a Python-Problem. It's a problem of Windows itself.

Yeah, this would be a problem with windows. Try doing a google search on the error code. I never used windows 8 so I'm afraid that's all I can provide in terms of information.

Try Miniconda if that work finish.

Most have Windows 8 Service Pack 1(AKA Windows 8.1) or get this error.

Install Python as Administrator.
