Google SEO enabled url - metulburr - Sep-26-2016

I added a plugin that switches all the ugly URL's to a Google Friendly URL.
https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.com/en//webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

EDIT:
added rewrite rule for extra pages
http://python-forum.io/misc.php?page=porting
is now
http://python-forum.io/pages/porting.php

Hope that helps, on google you've gone from page 6 to page 8. On Bing, you're listed on page 3, but as an invalid search on the site, not the index page. For what its worth, both Google and Bing offer webmaster tools that help improve ones web footprint. Not sure about the other search engines.

Google's is https://www.google.com/webmasters/#?modal_active=none
Bing's is http://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster/

content is king. Which we can only get over time.

I think the best thing for this domain now is the fact that python-forum.org (will be shutting down) and basically pointing all users to here. And hopefully that gets more content. But another factor is all the people giving aid moved here. So all the activity is here now instead. The more questions we answer, the more content, the better listing.
I am sure we will get back on top, its just a matter of time.

This site has also only existed for a small handful of weeks.  It takes time to crawl up to the top, so we shouldn't have any expectation of being high up yet.  Once the old forum is dead and people start flooding this site with posts, then this place will start skyrocketing.

I understand about the newness of the site and that it takes time to increase ones rating, but I would not expect to see a decrease in the rating. Google themselves admit they use over 200 items as part of how they rank a site. The days of putting massive amounts of words in the META tag no longer applies, in fact, from what I gather, now very little importance is placed on the META tag. That's where those webmaster tools come in handy. Once you verify that the site belongs to you, they go out search your site and then return a report to you of most errors or problems that might affect your site's ranking.

I dont think its going to be as accurate as you think. Its kind of like checking your weight every day is not accurate of your weight, but more like every 2-4 weeks or so.

I expect it could take a year or so to acquire a decent amount of content enough to worry about why the rankings are not going up.

Can you please tell me how long it takes for a young site to get noticed? I've been running a sports blog for three months now, but the traffic is very small and the site is very hard to find in search engines. I've always had problems with promotion. Turned to one freelancer for optimization and SEO, but did not feel any result. Maybe someone here can give me some sound advice? I would be grateful.
