Just bringing this to everyone's attention.

A lot of times people ask to delete solved threads. We do not do this.

An example is this. Even though there is a tutorial on it here, this person landed on this thread that solved their issue.

Why? What is going on in these people minds?
If their problem is solved no one else should know about or what?
Every forum is a knowledge database.
Unfortunately some don´t know how to use it (can´t use search function).
And others don´t want future knowledge seekers to participate.
I hate those scumbags imho!

Almost every request I've seen to have something removed, is because it's homework, and they don't want their professor searching their code on google and having them see this forum, because then it might be called plagiarism.

I could of sworn there were a few people that just wanted their content deleted, but yeah most of it is homework related.

I thought we had one or two who's post was so bad they wanted it deleted out of embarrassment.

if someone does not want to get caught asking for homework help, then they need to obscure their identity and don't post identifying information. and don't we limit help in the homework section to what a tutor might give?

Yes, but it still doesn't look good for the student when they copy/paste their assignment, without any effort towards a solution (which happens a lot).
