notifications - metulburr - Oct-19-2016

Im playing with another plugin. At the top right in links there now is a new notification link that is similar to facebook notification appearance.

Can we add a "I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen it for a while"?

I wasnt sure what to expect either until after install.

One thing i really like about it, is its quick (2 click) and easier to get to the post in question (most likely the latest post). The post ID, not the beginning of the thread, which is what every other link at the top sends you to. Im already finding this to be useful on a 1 page thread, let alone a 3-4 page thread, etc. So if ive already read everything except that latest post, its quicker to click notifications and the link which sends me to the thread i have not seen, than other methods.

Im also finding that i can jump back and forth around the forum quicker.

Or maybe im just use to facebook?  Think

I have no real opinion, except that maybe no opinion should be an option on future polls. I doubt I will ever use it, but I don't see it causing a problem.

will do

RE: notifications - nilamo - Oct-19-2016

The only problem I can see, is that eventually the header will be so busy with random report-y things that it'll just confuse new people.

Also, the user-images seem to be a little bit... broken. Like, I see other people's images next to some of the things I've done.

RE: notifications - Ofnuts - Oct-19-2016

It seems to list everything, not just the things I would care about (like people answering to my posts, or at least to threads I participated in).

That was the intended purpose. A board-wide notification. I guess not too similar to facebook then. But that is what the "My discussions" are for...specifically threads you only posted to.

So your talking about limiting the list to shorter in the drop down menu? Yes i noticed the image problem too. I could just simply disable images.

RE: notifications - metulburr - Oct-20-2016

Another thing i noticed that it does catch VS unread post link that does NOT catch....is that when someone posts within 60 seconds of their previous post on the same thread, it adds an HR line and edits the post above instead of making a new post. Unread post link does not catch this change as its the same post, however notifications does. which is why you see 3 replies that looks like it duplicated it 3 times on the post
