POWER POINT presentation - elico - Oct-27-2016 Hi all I need to do some openoffice for linux presentaiuon to run under linux Can it be done ? How to do this ? Thanks Elico HI there Is a FREEOFICE version for linux I need to do a presentation (like POWERPOINT) on linux . Is it possible ? Thanks elico RE: POWER POINT presentation - Larz60+ - Oct-27-2016 you can run many windows programs with wine (not from the grape) (my personal hit rate is over 90%) RE: POWER POINT presentation - sparkz_alot - Oct-27-2016 you could also use LibreOffice (both windows and linux) which is almost if not equal to openoffice and is included on most linux systems. I also read that OpenOffice may be on the way out as more and more of their team leaves and can't be replaced, among other reasons. Here is just one article on the matter: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2977112/software-productivity/why-you-should-ditch-openoffice-and-use-the-free-libreoffice-suite.html RE: POWER POINT presentation - Larz60+ - Oct-27-2016 Back to LaTex. It's survived and in spite of a steep learning curve, still the best IMHO. I wrote several articles for a computer magazine, all in LaTex the editors would take the LaTex and (after all edits were done) send it off as is to the typesetters. Open office's not bad, sorry to hear there having difficulty. It's one of the remaining Sun products that I know of (originally StarOffice before Apache took over) (I still have a Sun with original Unix (Solaris), StarOffice, etc.) I haven't fired it up in 20 years so don't know if it would even run. Also been in the basement of a building with building that has a brick foundation (circa 1600's) RE: FREEOFFICE for LINUX? - metulburr - Oct-27-2016 Libre office is similar to MS office. Libre impress is the power point of that http://alternativeto.net/software/libreoffice-impress/?platform=linux RE: POWER POINT presentation - elico - Oct-27-2016 Thanks you all very helpfool Elico Installing powerpoint - elico - Oct-28-2016 Hi all How do i install a powerpoint for linux slides so it will run at the boot ? Why are you asking in a python forum? RE: Installing powerpoint - sparkz_alot - Oct-28-2016 (Oct-28-2016, 11:31 AM)elico Wrote: Hi all That can get a bit tricky. You would need to write a script to run the program after the user login. An easier way, that requires no scripts, is just leave the program open on the desktop when you logout. You could also create a 'short cut' on the desktop. |
