Data Science and Machine Learning sub-forum - Beliavsky - Jan-12-2018
In the Python Coding forum there are sub-forums for GUI, Game Development, Networking, Web Development. Since Python is one of the main languages used in Data Science and Machine Learning, why not create a sub-forum on those topics? People could discuss the use of numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and other libraries.

i know some of the other admins would like to keep the forum simple. Too many sub-forums and it gets confusing for new users. And then they get griped at for not posting in the correct location. Also the more sub-forums there are means many people will not post in the correct location, which means a lot more work-load for mods and admins to constantly be moving threads to the correct sub-forums.
You can locate similar threads pertaining to what you are interested in through the various search methods of the forum
But you never know. Maybe the other team members have changed their minds by now. You will have to see what others say about it.

Each sub-forum as you call it; is actually called a forum each itself. The collection of forums are the board as a whole. But that is not that big of a deal.

In a way I like the idea. There certainly have been many questions centered around Python's machine learning capabilities. Maybe even more than Networking, Web Development or Game Development? It could mean that more people who have knowledge in the field would notice the topics and thus there would be more good answers provided. It may grow into a rally point for people with related interests, and Forum as a whole can benefit from that.
On the other hand, I prefer simplicity as well... =)
Could we do a test run for a while, to see how it turns out? I don't think there would be a lot of thread moving required. Even as things stand now there isn't, unless I am missing a lot.

Wouldnt that just fall under general coding?
Either way we would need more team members votes for trying it.I setup a poll on this forum in the OP.

I like the idea. We don't get enough concurrent programming to justify it, but we get pandas questions just about every day. And I just ignore the threads (like the GUI section) so being able to "mark as read" sounds good to me :)

i am not in that area really, what exactly is defined as data science? The use of the libraries: NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, Pandas, SymPy??
