i would like to see an edit button to clear formatting.

There is a clear formatting button. Select all your text via Ctrl + a, or at least he text you want cleared, then click the remove formatting button. It is an "A" with a minus symbol

my bad.  i expected something in the block with the BIUS formatting.  i did not recognize that 'A' symbol meaning.  thanks!
