PyQt is a great graphics package, but don't discount wxpython (which I see you have tried) The new phoenix version
for python 3 is great. Visit https://wxpython.org/Phoenix/docs/html/gallery.html to see some of what can be done.
The new version has a subversion wx.aui which is 100 % python.
