Help with calling list from user input

A better way is to use a dictionary
database = {
    "phe": ["UUU", "UUC"],
    "leu": ["UUA", "UUG", "CUU", "CUC", "CUA", "CUG"],
    "ile": ["AUU", "AUC", "AUA"],
    ...
}
Then later in code
    aa = input(...).strip()
    print(database[aa])
