Our chat is the forums. When you post, someone posts in response. There are a lot of programmers here, and almost all questions gets answered. Sometimes by numerous people.
You cant learn the basics by someone chatting with you. You have to slowly read and then test it out for yourself. And when you test it out by yourself, and have a problem, post on the forums and we will be happy to help you get over any hurdle, small or large.
On your initial post....Just make sure to read the
help docs to ensure that you post enough content and proper content for us to be able to answer, as well as use BBCode to make it easier for us to read your post. After that the thread turns into a discussion anyways. Much similar to chat.
The benefit though (for forum VS chat) is its recorded for future people having the same issue. If you ever had a problem and Google'd help and got a forum as an answer, then you should be grateful they asked it on a forum and not chat, as it was recorded and helped you at a later point.
We have some basic tutorials in the tutorial section labeled by the prefix
