I need help getting set up for Python
#1
How do I tell which files I need to download to write Python programs:

https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-373/ ?

I had it figured out on an old computer that I did away with last September, but I never actually began learning how to program once I had the starter files installed.

I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad running Windows 10 Pro. My system data are:

Intel®Core™i5-4300V
[email protected] 2.49Ghz
8GB Ram (7.69GB usable)
64 Bit operating system, x64 Based processor

I am trying to use a Python tutorial on Youtube, and even though the tutorial was created last September the download instructions are already out of date.

We have tutorials for setting up stuff you can look at.
Windows Install | Editor | Anaconda.

use: https://python-forum.io/Thread-Part-1-Py...er-Windows
Even though it shows 3.7.2 install for 3.7.3 should be the same

I appreciate the help. I've got the set up figured out, but I haven't made it past the hello world print statement as far as writing a program goes. I'm watching a couple of Youtube tutorials.

I took BASIC in high school (twice due to a scheduling conflict) using an Apple IIc, and I taught myself BASIC for the Commodore 64/128/Amiga- all of this back in the stone age of home computing, but it's amazing how much I can remember.

If you just install it for studying, I advise that you'd better use the latest version 3.7.3.
Since your OS is 64 bit windows, you can download the file named "Windows x86-64 executable installer".
