If we are going to call exclamation points (!) bangs, then we need to have another symbol that we call a chitty, so we can type chitty chitty bang bang with symbols. Since a chitty is an informal British term for a chit, or small note, I would propose a small symbol, like or '. Since has uses in GitHub markdown, perhaps it should be '.
