turtle.Screen() not working

so in the python shell i imported turtle(I had tkinter installed don't worry) and then typed in the following:

wn = turtle.Screen()

when I hit enter, i got an error message:

_tkinter.TclError: unknown color name "BACKGROUND"

i am using Manjaro on the raspberry pi 4 if that means anything.

If anyone can help me, that would be great
