I don’t know how to start learning because I don’t know what my end goal is

I want to learn python. I don’t know how to start learning because I don’t know what my end goal is. How do you start to create, anything? If I follow along with tutorials I’ll get base knowledge, but how do you put it all together into something effective?

Thats like learning to drive but you don't know where to drive too.
Just drive somewhere and you'll get better at driving.

On that note, do I stick with python or JavaScript? I would hate to learn something and realize I’ve gone down the wrong path. I’m 37 trying to learn for a new career. I just don’t want to miss out.

On that note, learn them both.

Start with one language. Don't try to learn too many things at once. Of course, later on, it's a good idea to learn another language or languages.
