Thanks for the advice, I've rewritten the code and it's working beautifully now, I just need to connect the motor and fiddle with the speed on that

I do imagine that speed is an issue. We are talking seconds intervals,
and during that time 'jiggling" has to take place.

Have you considered a solenoid instead of a servo.
Solenoids are used for "drum-boxes" and are capable of rapid execution of small movements.
