IQ and Programming
#1
say,
would you say that high IQ is essential in being a skilled programmer ?

Obviously, not everyone can be a programmer. One needs the ability to understand abstract concepts, to organize them in space and time, to plan the realisation of complex tasks and to learn known algorithms. The ability to adapt to a changing environment is necessary too. Some mathematical skills may be useful as well (e.g. Donald Knuth). I spend time with many students, and obviously, not everyone can be a programmer.

well, i must say that the subject of programming and mathematics doesn't come easily to me,

i trade stocks for a living, which is looking at charts and identifying patterns,
i also do astrological analysis for people - which is very intuitive, and again it has something to do with combinations...

i don't know what is my IQ, but maybe i just don't believe in myself enough
do you have some advice ?
about how to overcome hardships ?
having a winning attitude ?
gaining skill in something you find difficult ?

i mean, i think i simply need to set-up my psychological factor in order to be a better learner in a field which does not come easily/naturally to me....how do i line up with these ?

A high IQ can help, but it cannot replace experience.
