Hello, everyone,
I'm Kennedy Richard S. Guerra, 32, maintainer of the Indie Python project, a personal project whose goal is to promote fun and learning by publishing and maintaining open-source apps, games and content.
I'm excited to announce the first game of the project, Bionic Blue, an action platformer game intended to be completed in this first half of 2023. The game is still at an early state of development, but you can already play a short prototype. Here's a short video for the announcement:
You can install the game right away:
pip install bionicblue
Then run it with the "bionicblue" command.
You can find the game's source in this github repository: https://github.com/IndiePython/bionic-blue
The game has a dedicated website with more information about it as well https://bionicblue.indiepython.com
As all subprojects of the Indie Python project, Bionic Blue is free and open-source. It is actually dedicated with love to the public domain.
The Indie Python project also released the Nodezator app last year (also dedicated to the public domain). It is a multi-purpose visual node editor for the Python programming language. The node editor was helpful in the production of the Bionic Blue game as well. It was used, for instance, in the animation of the particles when the player is charging the shot and in the death animation (the energy balls that leave the screen when the player dies).

Please, consider donating to help keep the development and maintenance of the project, its apps and games, as steady as possible. You can find many donation options, both recurring and one-time donations, in the link https://indiepython.com/donate . There are many different services available like patreon, ko-fi, github sponsors and more.
Any amount helps a lot. Consider it very tiny investment in the future of indie gamedev with Python and pygame.
Regardless of whether you donate or not, you are always welcome to join us on our Discord server! Please, follow this link https://indiepython.com/discord
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you have any questions, just ask away in the comments and I'll answer asap.
