It's a universal problem for all professions that require immobility for a long period of time. Drivers, for instance, have the same health problem with the back. Consider consultation with a good rehabilitator for some appropriate exercises. You have to compensate these hours on the chair some way. The body needs movement. Next are the veins in the feet. In order to pump the blood through them walking is required. Our bodies work that way and there is nothing else we can do but to go walk or run enough.

I'm not a fan of the Gaiam chair personally, since it's like a chair that has a ball in it. I just sit on a big ball instead, with no supporting chair. Slouching is reduced, because if you slouch... you fall off the ball lol. Plus rolling/rocking around helps me think.

nilamo,

That would be a disaster for me as I often fall asleep while sitting at the computer,
usually when I'm thinking about that next hair-brained idea...

damn man, that is expensive. Especially for someone like me who lives every month almost living in a cardboard box from not being able to pay rent.

The king chair for 469$ is build like a tank,so have to think of that it last 10-year or longer, then the price is not so bad.
But i understand that your financial situation could be better.

It may be be a good sit though

I like the looks of that chair, think I might buy one, and also your approach to the cost.
I drive a BMW that I bought 19 years ago, and had the same thought about the cost.
It cost me $40K back then, all maintenance was paid for for the first five years, and just general maintenance after that.
It will be 20 years old next year, thus $2000 per year for a great ride.
It still runs as good as it did on the day that I bought it, although since I moved to New England, it's starting to rust from the severe weather.

I apparently beat the crap out of my stuff then. My cars i drive 50K miles a year, rusted from front to back. And any office chairs i have ever owned would break off the swivel within 6 months.
