RE: Have I chosen the wrong career path? - xBlackHeartx - Sep-25-2017

I need to just drop my degree. The more research I do, the more I've come to dispise programming. Its an industry that's now hell-bent on doing NOTHING but destroying all jobs so that we'll all end up broke and homeless. Fuck programming. I am NOT going to be a part of an industry that serves no purpose other than TO TURN OUR WORLD INTO AN ABSOLUTE LIVING HELL. Besides, my own fate won't any different even if I do get a programming job. Even that's being rendered obsolete. There's so many programs out there that make it so easy, that most people who professional make websites don't know a thing about code anymore! Why they would even get hired just to use dreamweaver I don't know, but either way, programming will soon kill itself, after its killed off the rest of the world.

So in short: fuck this, I QUIT.

As a professional software engineer, and someone who has a small amount of familiarity with economics, I disagree with everything you're saying. I get that you're angry and upset right now, but I hope that at some point you get a little more perspective.

You're talking trash about me and you're talking trash about my sister, and I don't appreciate it. So fine, quit, go away, and leave us alone.

This leads to an interesting story.
I had to take an economics class when going to school.
I chose 'The money of economics and banking'
I went to the first lecture, and decided I'd had enough, so didn't go to any of the others.

To my surprise, in the end I got a 3.5 grade!
I guess the professor couldn't remember who I was, and to cover himself, decided he would give me a good grade.
That or I was being rewarded for realizing I would never use what was being taught.

By the way, I ended up being a software engineer as well.

Do whatever makes you happy.

Pretty much everything in your post is factually incorrect, but ultimately, the only choice you should make is the one that you'll be happy with.

I second nilamo's comment.
You should never pursue anything that you don't like.
Eventually the guys in white coat's will be coming to take you away.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

I need to say if you have passion and you want to develop in this area, than everything will be ok. You will learn everything you need over time. I`m also working in it company [REMOVED] now that is developing software. But when i came there for the first time i was newbie in software development and have to read many technical literature and learn from my own mistakes.
